"For the last thirteen years, The Joy to Life Foundation has donated funds to the Alabama Department of Public Health's (ADPH) Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ABCCEDP) for free mammograms for underserved women in Alabama. As a result of these funds, 9,942 mammograms have been provided and 70 breast cancers have been diagnosed." Dr. Don Williamson, head of ADPH for the State of Alabama
The Joy to Life Foundation has a simple mission: provide free mammograms and other breast cancer screenings when necessary to medically underserved women in Alabama, provide limited grants when needed, build and support breast cancer awareness among all Alabamians, and promote over-all health, well-being, and education throughout the state.
Since being founded in 2001 by breast cancer survivor Joy Blondheim and her husband, Dickie, almost 10,000 mammograms have been provided and over 70 women have been successfully treated! These numbers change daily.
