Wrapsody of Hoover invited everyone to celebrate the conclusion of their annual October "Hope Floats" campaign by joining them for the Balloon Release to be held at Patton Creek on Friday, October 28 at 5 pm.
The balloon release was held simultaneously with their sister store in Auburn. Each pink balloon had been tagged and each tag had a name, a message or even a wish that had been written by participants who purchased balloons throughout October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Please visit www.wrapsodyonline.com or their Facebook page for more information.
The money raised during the month-long event was donated to the Joy to Life Foundation. Thank you Wrapsody for all your support!

Hewlett Packard Alabama (HP) created a unique event at their company in October to celebrate breast cancer awareness month and they called it The Power of Pink. Throughout their building, each department decorated their area in a very creative and pink way.
For the employees, this event was a way to celebrate with the breast cancer survivors they work with, to remember and honor loved ones that had lost their battle and to provide life-saving information to all their co-workers about early detection.
What a unique way for companies to get involved in support of breast cancer awareness!
Check out the photos, video and the winners!

We are blogging! Our blog is named To Life which comes from the Yiddish word "L'chaim." It's used mainly during toasts; so much so that at a Jewish celebration, you don't propose a toast, you propose l'chaim.
You're invited to drop by as often as you'd like. We'll be sharing about our adventures, stories, and special friends we meet in the breast cancer community. We want you to be encouraged, and feel free to add your stories or comments that may encourage others. This blog will be a reminder to all of us that no matter what we are going through, life is a celebration and we can always propose l'chaim!
Visit our TO LIFE blog today...read, share, and encourage.

Pray in Pink is an opportunity for area houses of worship (churches, synagogues, and mosques) to honor breast cancer survivors and to provide life-saving information about breast cancer to their congregants during the month of October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Participating congregations were encouraged to make a day or weekend in October a celebration of survivors and co-survivors by hosting a special luncheon for survivors, encouraging attendees to wear pink clothes or by inviting survivors to speak about their experiences. FREE resource materials were available that include lots of program ideas, HONOR and MEMORY cards, and Pray in Pink totes.

Thanks to the generosity of the Joy to Life Foundation and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Central Alabama Affiliate, the Alabama Department of Public Health can continue to fund the screening of high-risk women for breast and cervical cancer through June 30,2011.
In the past seven months the Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program has served 10,000 women, the number of women ordinarily served during an entire year. All program appropriations have been depleted because of this unprecedented demand for services. To avoid completely suspending the program, the two nonprofit organizations have stepped forward to provide funding for screening high-risk women.

The Zen of Financial Peril (The Art of Happiness in Crisis) - by Jay Taffet is a unique book that introduces the timeless themes of empowerment in a very creative way by examining the contrasting roles of thought and insight, want and desire and achievement and success, and then offers proof of our ability to live a life based on insight, desire and success. Ultimately, this book is about the awareness that we not only have control over what we think and feel, but the innate ability to convert that awareness into perspective, fulfillment and happiness.
In honor of his mother, Linda Taffet, a breast cancer survivor, Jay is donating $2 from the sale of each book to the Joy to Life Foundation. The book is receiving rave reviews and is currently available for purchase online at the book website, zenoffinancialperil.com and at Amazon.com. Beginning in mid-January 2011, the book will also be available at Barnes and Nobles.
