2011 Volunteer Opportunities

The Joy to Life Foundation needs volunteers to assist with The Montgomery Half Marathon and 5K that will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011.

The following volunteer opportunities are available:

Saturday, Oct. 1: Water Station
Times: 6:30 am - 11:00 am (entire time) | 6:30 am - 9:30 am | 7:00 am - 10:00 am | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Volunteers Needed: At least 20 adults at all times throughout the race. Younger adults may assist if supervised by an adult.

Location: Downtown Fountain, where we'll have Joy to Life tent(s) and large contingency of Joy to Life supporters.

Responsibilities: Mix up sports drink and have water/sports drink ready to hand out to runners/walkers as they pass by. We will be given complete instructions in advance on how to set everything up and how to hand off water to runners/walkers. Cheer/encourage runners/walkers.

Our water station is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for all who have supported the JTL Foundation via their participation in this event. We plan to have JTL banners, pom poms, balloons, etc. so we can truly cheer and encourage the runners/walkers as they head to the finish line. Family and friends are welcome to "hang out" at the water station and cheer for the participants, however, they must not disrupt the work of the volunteers.

Note: All volunteers are encouraged to wear your Joy to Life or Walk of Life t-shirt. Please provide your t-shirt size - we may receive volunteer t-shirts from the Montgomery Half. Volunteers under 16 years of age will be considered on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Volunteer Coordinator.
