Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary: Recruits, assists in training, and coordinates placement of volunteers for various Joy to Life projects throughout the year. Assist with identifying volunteer project needs through ongoing communication with pertinent JTL staff. Supervise volunteers and provide direction and consultation as it pertains to specific volunteer opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization.
• Recruit and place volunteers for specific events throughout the year.
• Establish communication with different community organizations/businesses that can provide large numbers of volunteers for the more prominent JTL events.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers.
• Handle telephone, voicemail, written, and e-mail inquiries regarding volunteer activities within the organization.
• Collect feedback from volunteers to share with Event Coordinator in order to acknowledge strengths, successes, and to make improvements for future volunteer activities.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Must be passionate about the cause for which JTL represents.
• Proficient in computer applications such as word processing and Internet usage, with strong emphasis on spreadsheets.
• Data entry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing or leading teams and/or groups of people.
• Outgoing personality with the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Self-starter; motivated to work without direct supervision.
• Ability (and willingness) to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the project at hand.
• Effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
• Work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.

Additional Information:

This is a paid part-time flexible position with the Joy to Life Foundation that will report directly to the Event Coordinator. While it is a year round position, there will be times of the year where it will be very slow (during summer months) and other times (such as January – April when leading up to the Walk of Life) when this person will need to be available basically on a full time basis.
